I hope each of you are experiencing all the beauty of this season through snow, lights, music and family. This morning I was journaling about my struggle being away from the US for the holidays and I was asking Jesus to remind me of something to be thankful for. He showed me that the true reason for the season as they say, is Him. And no matter where I, or you, are in the world, He is the reason to celebrate. So in the midst of the gifts, the tree, the lights and the snow (which are some of my favorite things) I am thankful to be reminded that He is not only the reason we celebrate this season but He is the One we celebrate this season.
This year has been a whirlwind for Global Redemption for sure! I moved to Uganda at the end of February and time has flown by. For this year our biggest goal has been to register Global Redemption as a nonprofit here in Uganda. A process we began in July 2017. Well, currently I can say that we have been approved however our paperwork is being held due to corruption among one government official. The corruption in this country runs deep and it shows itself within each office entered. It has been frustrating and draining yet we continue to hold on to our core values of integrity and honesty and we refuse to pay a bribe. So we are waiting and searching out other officials for approval without such payment.
Other than the paperwork side of things, I have continued to partner with a local ministry here called Mto Moyoni (“river in the heart”) which teaches on the Father heart of God as well as walking people through inner healing from past wounds. I have worked with them since 2012 and the mentorship program of Global Redemption is meant to be a follow-up to their youth programs. I have been working with their youth outreach program which has been amazing. Working with teenagers who have experienced horrible pain and were walking down dangerous paths, some towards terrorism, and seeing them make choices for the Father and for His Kingdom has been incredible.
